The shorter blessing can be said before the meal but is not compulsory.

 

Baruch ata adonai elohenu melech ha olam ha motzi lechem min ha eretz

Blessed are you YHWH our Elohim who has created bread from the earth.

 

Debarim (Deut) 8:10 (AFNHSS) When You have eaten and are full, then You shall bless hwhy your Elohim for the good land which He has given you.

 

The following blessing must be recited after consuming the meal for all yourself or all the family.  It is a sin not to do so as it is commanded in the Torah to do this.

 

Birkat HaMazon

 

Baruch ata adonai Elohim melech ha olam

Blessed are you YHWH, our Elohim, King of the Universe

 

Ha Zan Et ha olam ku-loo, be to vu, bkhen,  be khesed oovra cha mim

Who nourishes the whole world, in His goodness, with grace, with kindness and mercy.

 

Hoo no ten lekhem le khol ba sar, kee le olam khas do

He gives bread to every flesh, for His kindness is everlasting.

 

Oov too vo, ha gadol, ta mid lo kasar lanu ve al yaksar lanu

And by His great goodness, we never lacked and may we never lack.

 

Ma Zon le olam va’ed

Food, forever and ever.

 

Bah ahvoor shmo ha gadol kee hoo el Zan um for nes la kul

For the sake of His great name, or He is a nourishing and providing Elohim for all

 

Oo mey tiv la kul oo-me khin ma Zon le kul bri yotav Asher bara

And gracious for all, and He prepares food for all of His creatures which He created.

 

Baruch ata adonai ha Zan et ha kul.

Blessed are you, YHWH, who nourishes all.  Amein.
