There are many doctrines prevalent in our Churches today, we are being bombarded by a vast array of theologies for the end times and how Armageddon will take place. Unfortunately, bookshelves are lined with books that are geared towards one focus– book sales and sensationalism and thus hundreds of books have missed the mark. As a result, many people depend on scholars with greater proficiency in deciphering scriptures that are perhaps a little cryptic for the laymen have also been misled.
With all due respect, in the past many outlandish predictions have been made based on loosely associated scripture and thus stretching the depths of human imagination, forcing the jigsaw pieces to fit and those endeavouring to enlighten themselves end up following the prevailing theory. It is human nature to follow the flock after all there is safety in numbers…or is there? If we are all following the flock on a theory flaunted by sensationalism and book sales then is it not possible that we as individuals have missed the signs of the times around us. “Islam is peace” is a phrase re-iterated in vain, as we see bombs exploding, planes crashing and families being torn apart at a cataclysmic level in the name of Islam. Take a look around…where is the peace in Islam?
The writers in the past were writing in the dark because Islam lay as a dormant force, they did not see the unveiled face of Islam we see today and so they could not comprehend how Islam fits in with the end time’s prophecies. Israel was not born so the previous writers could not demonstrate how prophesy is unfolding in a tangible manner but they faithfully believed in future events clearly predicted in the Bible.
Islam is beginning to come about amidst a clash of civilizations though the clash is not with the Western world in general but because some Western countries stand by Israel i.e. USA and promote a religion directly in opposition to Islam. Some European countries give partial support to Israel so these nations are then perceived to be enemies of Islam since Islam seeks to destroy Israel, the Jewish people and take over the land of Israel. There is a principle in Islam that states that any land that Islam ruled over in the past is now part of the House of Islam, Dar ul Islam, so that the land may be taken back by force.
Three years ago when I met Walid Shoebat, an Ex-Muslim convert from Bethlehem we started to discuss end times prophesy. He was the one who enlightened me about real theology and eschatology of the Bible. We decided to write this book together so we can show the Christian and non-Christian world what is really brewing in the horizon based on sound Biblical analysis. Walid was a Muslim Palestinian terrorist in Israel who came to the Lord Jesus Christ when he read the Bible, realised the prophetic truths of the scriptures, and came to know Jesus Christ as his personal saviour and redeemer.
I am an Ex-Muslim Convert of the dominant Sunni sect from Lahore, Pakistan. I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ back in September 1998 after reading the testimony of an Egyptian convert while browsing the internet one day. Later Walid and I both decided to create a website on the internet, http://www.abrahamic-faith.com, to propagate the truth to the world about what is coming to pass. Our aim is not to spurn hatred or draw enemy lines, far from it, our aim is to show all people the deception that they have been lured into, whether they be Muslims who do not recognise the path of self-destruction that they have chosen so that all may be touched by the light of life and Christians who have not discerned the signs of the times. As Ephesians 6:12 quite rightly states: ‘For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.’ Our fight is against the spiritual forces of Islam not flesh and blood, Walid being an Arab and me being a Pakistani we can fight against what is in effect our own flesh and our own blood and for this reason we strive to expose the fallacy of fundamentalist Islam and the threat that it poses to the world. It is not prudent to base ones theology on a few and loosely associated verses of scripture as this may leave many holes and many stones unturned. One must eliminate theories in the past that were given credence in this manner and indeed the present. So we shall endeavour to present a theory that will concord throughout the Bible, which can be tried and tested, backward and forward, throughout the Hebrew Bible and the New Covenant writings.
Suffice it to say, the climate is politically charged after the onslaught of September the 11th and the wake of increasing Islamic terrorism but nevertheless, many will, even now, disagree that this is not so; “Islam is peace” and that the perpetrators are extremists and thus tarnishing the name of Islam unworthily. It is not for man to adjudicate what is and is not a “true Muslim” as the source of the controversy, the Qur’an and the Hadith (sayings of Muhammad), define the obligations that a “true Muslim” ought to undertake and this will be discussed at a later stage. In light of historical data and present day information, we shall endeavour to prove that this theory has a sound Biblical foundation and this is what is currently transpiring in our world today. Islam is and has proven to be a force to be reckoned with.
Who would have thought that out of the run down territory of the Afghan mountains and Saudi Arabia, ruthless terrorists would be born, striking at the heart of American capitalism and destroying two magnificent structures that once painted the New York Skyline and killing 2752 (government estimate) innocent civilians. Even now, two years after the incident, the perpetrators of this horrific attack, Osama Bin Laden and all his cohorts have still not been bought to justice. Is it not intriguing that a superpower such as the USA has been unable to apprehend the mastermind of September 11? After all, they were unable to comprehend the enemy, Islam; Osama Bin Laden is but one individual. These people are extremely resilient and tenacious, even the West with all its advanced technological equipment is helpless. The problem is that we are geared to think technology means advancement but it is the human mind that invented the technology and thus surpasses the technological age. If human life was held in regard, especially their lives, then perhaps their countenance would not be as strong but dying in the course of Allah is something to aspire to and this is the quality that makes Islam particularly formidable.
